With spring in full swing, we’ve got daffodils blooming left and right. Frankly, I love them. There’s nothing like a little pop of color to add some curb appeal to an old home like ours.
Seeing these beautiful blooms over the last few weeks has inspired me to create a DIY daffodil garland to deck out the inside of my home as well.
Using faux daffodils, I create a cozy, cottagecore piece of decor for the kitchen, just above the stove. We have open shelving since renovating our kitchen last spring/summer and this garland adds some personality.
I’ve been making garlands just about every season to spruce up the space and absolutely love the subtle additions.
Making a home cozy and beautiful doesn’t have to be complicated. And despite what you see on Pinterest, handmade decor doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. One small, simple piece can really expand on a room.
Today, I’m going to show you exactly how I went about creating this latest little addition. I hope you enjoy this cute spring garland made of daffodils!

DIY Daffodil Garland
The meaning of daffodils
I chose daffodils because they are classic and understated. If spring had one flower to represent it I think this would definitely be in the running. Whether you enjoy the symbolism behind flowers (floriography) or not, it’s interesting to note the characteristics the daffodil beholds. I think they represent so many positive aspects of the spring season.

Scissors
Twine
Hot glue gun , optional
Tacks or nails
Steps | DIY Daffodil Garland
1. Start by measuring a piece of twine twice as long as the space you need it to fit.
2. Next, use scissors to clip the blooms off the stems of the daffodils.
3. Decide how close together you want the daffodils on the garland. Starting on one end tie twine around the daffodils, one by one. Tie knots tightly. Be sure to leave a couple of inches of twine empty on the ends to secure it to a shelf later.
4. Repeat tying the twine around the daffodils until you’ve finished filling the garland.
5. Use tacks or nails to secure the garland to a shelf or wall, or drape along a railing or chandelier.

Tips for Success | DIY Daffodil Garland
To really secure the daffodils to the twine, use a hot glue gun to make it stick after tying the twine around the blooms.
Leave a half inch or so of the daffodil stems on the blooms to make securing the twine around it easier.
For a little more color, use two variations of daffodils for a vibrant white and yellow contrast.
